Updates and advice on changes to the Bachelor of Arts
The Bachelor of Arts has recently been reviewed and some changes made may affect the way you structure and complete your studies.
I am an existing student continuing in the Bachelor of Arts, what do I need to do?
Students continuing in the Bachelor of Arts will be able to complete the requirements that were in place the year they commenced. The planners provided below will assist you to plan out the remainder of your major. You may also apply to change to the new program requirements. Please discuss with the CASS Student Office whether this is the right choice for you.
Students completing a major in the School of Politics & International Relations or the School of Music
If you are completing a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Human Rights, International Relations, or Political Science with the School of Politics and International Relations, please refer to the information session and planners here.
If you are completing a major in Composition, Composition for Film and Video Games, Music Technology, Musicology, or Performance with the School of Music, please refer to the information session and planners here.
I am a new student and haven't started my degree yet. What does this mean for me?
Welcome to the ANU community! All new students must follow the program requirements for the year they were admitted to their degree. If you need help planning your study, please contact the CASS Student Office.
All majors in the Bachelor of Arts have been reviewed, but not all needed to make changes. The following majors haven't changed and therefore do not have completion planners:

Please note that the French Language and Culture major and minor have been updated to French Studies. The codes have changed to FRNS-MAJ and FRNS-MIN in 2025. Some courses in French Studies have been re-coded to provide a more logical sequence.

Indian and South Asian Studies
This major has been replaced with the South Asian Studies Major (SASS-MAJ) from 2025. As many courses are listed in both majors, students may choose to complete either the Indian and South Asian Studies or the South Asian Studies Major. Music
The Music Major (MUSY-MAJ) has been re-named as Music Studies (MUSS-MAJ) in 2025 and now includes a slightly different structure. Students who commenced their studies in 2024 or prior may choose to complete either major and students are encouraged to indicate your choice in ISIS as soon as possible so CASS can provide you with tailored support. The planner below reflects the Music Major (MUSY-MAJ).

Screen Studies
Please note that the Screen Studies major and minor have been disestablished from 2025. Students who commenced their studies in the Bachelor of Arts in 2024 or before can still complete a major or minor in screen studies as part of their program. If you are intending to do this, we strongly encourage you to select your major/minor in ISIS now. This will help the CASS Student Office identify you and provide timely support as needed.

Please note that the Spanish major and minor is now called Spanish Studies. The code's have changed to SPNS-MAJ and SPNS-MIN in 2025.
